Have you ever intended to learn something new or take up a new activity but then never actually started?
Or started a new venture or a new business but then moved onto another project because you felt it would be more successful? And then move on to another project to then find yourself not gaining success? And then move onto another business idea to then find yourself move onto another venture? Confusing right?
Or went to the shops or online stores to go buy one outfit, one piece of furniture or one product but then find yourself with a shopping cart full of items? Or go to a party intending to eat a healthy amount of food but then find yourself eating more and more food?
Have you heard of 'shiny ball syndrome'?
THIS IS THE THING THAT IS STOPPING YOU FROM GETTING WHAT YOU WANT.
Think of an example of your own when you found something newer, better, cheaper.
The shiny ball syndrome is very real in every aspect of life. It is when you keep jumping from one thing to the next because you find something that looks better, new, cheaper. But you've got to understand. There will always be something that looks better. You know the saying the grass always look greener on the other side? For some people; they don't see they are on the greener side already. They need to allow time for the grass to grow in quality and quantity.
But if you keep jumping to the other side where it looks shinier then all you will do it jump side to side. You are not moving forward. You lose patience in learning something new, you think you need to buy something bigger. You won't achieve what you are looking for because you are always seeking for something better. It's a never ending path to no where.
TWO TOP TIPS IN WALKING AWAY FROM THE SHINY BALL SYNDROME
1. See the end goal in mind.
What is your intention in what you have pursued? It can be something as simple as finding the sofa you really wanted for your new home or something new like learning a skillset that will free you of time poverty. See the end goal and only visualise this when you have made the decision to start something. So visualising the sofa in your living room or visualising what you do with your time when you gain financial independence.
Many people see the end goal in mind when they pursue academic degrees or jobs as well. You apply for something or complete a degree because you have visualised what you will be doing in the future.
2. Ignore noise.
What do I mean? I'll give you an example now. Straight away, I thought about race horses that wear blinders. (I love horses)
Do you know why they wear blinders? Because doing so covers all or part of a horse's vision so they are encouraged to look ahead and keep on track. It reduces the noise visually around them, helps them relax which encourages them to remain on track. The end goal is to finish the race and for the jockey to win the race.
The horse doesn't see the other horses, focus on one path and pursues to achieve the end goal.

I think we as humans can learn a lot from these two simple tips.
When you have a desire to achieve something you must reduce the noise around you, keep the end in mind. Us humans have the upper hand. Because we can become laser focused but be aware of our surroundings. We can look back without it distracting us. However we should only look back to reflect on personal growth. Only ever look back to reflect on lessons learnt.
To reduce the noise around you is very simple. You must ask yourself what is distracting you from living the life you want to live? What are your distractions in achieving this? Is it your job, the people around you, partying with friends, your parent role, exhaustion? Have you even thought about it? And if so, are you doing something about it?
Recognise your distractions because as soon you know what it is, you are able to work on them and stop jumping into one opportunity to another. Or stop making excuses because you have no time or you have responsibilities.
"Because you know more than anyone. You did not grow up to be living in a cycle of wake up, work, sleep, repeat. You grew up thinking adults do what they like when they like".
And some adults do! You can be that adult. Just stop jumping from one job to the next, one house to the next, one opportunity to the next. Exhausting yourself to an early grave.
Start by finding a vehicle that will create you wealth, health and happiness.
Do not let people tempt you to start another new thing, another new venture until you have one venture reaping you rewards.
Stay consistent on one path, ride the waves and eventually you do achieve the goals in being able to live life on your terms.
Stop jumping side to side. Go do something with full conviction, full commitment and get away fro the shiny ball syndrome. Life will forever change for you.
See you next week
Lots of love xxxx
